This is the sunset from the evening of 21st November 2013 – the night of my son’s Valedictory (graduation) dinner, and the night before I underwent mastectomy for the treatment of breast cancer. End of an Era. I had to duck out from the dinner in order to take this photo, as I felt strongly that I needed to see the sun set on such a momentous occasion. The sun did rise again the next day and life, although never quite the same as when this photo was taken, goes on in an exciting new direction for both my son and I.
